Can Wallingford save its Home Tour?

We reported last week that the folks at the Wallingford Neighborhood Office (WNO), who run the annual Wallingford Home Tour, decided to cancel the tour this year for lack of participation.

Now Home Tour volunteer organizers said they want to try to save the tour, WNO director Janet Stillman told us yesterday. “This will be possible if, and only if, enough homeowners agree to open up their homes for the Tour,” she said. The proposed new date is January 9, 2011, instead of in October.

Rest assured that people won’t just wander in off the street to see your home. Only people with paid tickets will get the tour guide book with photos and descriptions of each home.

Proud of your Wallingford home and interested in participating in the tour? Contact Janet Stillman at wno@wallingford.org or 206.632.3165 no later than November 1.

  1. Saving a fundraiser that raises funds for rent and expenses at the Neighborhood Office is one thing, it is not like it is an endangered entity that has its own network. I hope the event is covered by insurance as all community events need to be.

What would make this more vital is if a book came out of it and if the proceeds of that publication funded both the Office and a local home-related charity like Habitat for Humanity. I am looking for the there there, always.
