Update, Dec. 2: We talked with a Milano Pizza employee who told us that the shooting was accidental. The witness said that another employee had brought a gun into the restaurant, where some people were looking at it in the back of the building. They’d taken the magazine out, said the witness, but unbeknownst to the shooter, a bullet was left in the firearm.

The witness recalled that the gun owner pulled the trigger, and the bullet went through a wall and almost hit someone next door at Slave to the Needle. The witness said that the shooter later turned himself in to police and now is at home, pretty shaken up about the incident.

The site SeattleCrime.com reports these details: “We’re told the gunman then fled the scene following the shooting, and ditched the weapon in Lake Union. Police talked to witnesses and pieced together the details of the bizarre incident, and apparently gave the man a stern lecture, but did not make an arrest.”

Posted Dec. 1: Shots were fired tonight from Milano Pizza and Pasta into Slave to the Needle at 403 NE 45th St. on the eastern edge of Wallingford. According to information our tipster Silver gleaned from the police scanner, at about 7:50 tonight employees at Slave to the Needle heard a commotion and shots fired from Milano Pizza next door.

The preliminary information available from the Seattle Police Department said, “A business in the area sustained damage to a wall where a bullet was lodged. At the time of this posting, there were no reported injuries or additional property damage. No suspect information.”

The person who answered the phone at Slave to the Needle didn’t want to give a statement.

We’ll update this story as we get more information.

  1. To the 4th Ave NE resident, just down from Slave to the Needle, that had my car towed last night for parking “too close” to their driveway: I live on that block, too. I struggle w/ people parking in front my house on a day to day basis, but I never have them towed. How about leaving a note on my windshield instead? Now I'm out $125+. Thanks. Have a nice Holiday!

  2. I'd like this “story” alot better if it was titled “Shot Fired from Milano's Pizza.” I mean, the tattoo industry is already stigmatized enough and the employees at STTN had nothing to do with this other than being on the unfortunate receiving end.

  3. Man, Wallingford is sooooo ghetto now…what happened to the old days, when folks in Wallingford settled their differences with lawyers?

  4. Hey Mike that wasn't us at Slave to the Needle…we don't care where anyone parks, especially if they live in the neighborhood. My guess was the cops had it towed..Sorry about it anyway.

  5. Makes me long for da good ol' days of eatin' Italia in da “U.”District at my favorite mob sit-down…
    A.K.A.:”O'Bannon's”or,”O'Bannion”'s,dependin' on who'se listenin' in,huh…
Never a shortage of “Little Italy”/Chicago-Styled food, goodly portions, and lots of button-man look-a-likes in Irish-mob drag sittin' in da kitchen, cleanin' dere typewriters an' such to old country classic string music…
No Sinatra, but maybe a couple Mick tenors like McCormick or such…
    (Chorus:)
    “Dose was da days,my Friend,we thought Dey'd never End”….
    (Repeat until last line…
    “OLD Fartz”…

  6. Thanks Melissa, I know it wasn't you folks. It was one of our neighbors further down 4th ave NE, just off of 44th. My ticket says that they complained and my car was subsequently impounded because I parked within 5 feet of their driveway. 5 feet, folks. Show me one car that's parked 5 feet from any driveway on 4th ave NE. It's a tough street, both my neighbor and my girlfriend have had tires slashed, recently. Maybe we (and the police) should be more concerned about looking for those folks, than for minor parking violations.

  7. Please see the update on Dec. 2. I also changed the headline to reflect the new information.
