QFC parking lot theft; seen this stuff?

Jessica wrote to let us know that some items were stolen yesterday around 11:00 a.m. from her car, which was parked in QFC’s lot west of Wallingford Ave.:

What was stolen was a brown leather bag containing a slew of client and construction papers and building permits, three checkbooks, asthma drugs, client keys, and personal infomation.  If you hear anything, or see any of this documentation floating around the neighborhood could you please let me know.

My guess is the person was looking for a wallet, cash, or credit card (which was not in the bag) and probably ditched the leather bag and its contents somewhere in the neighborhood.

Jessica asks that anyone who finds these items contact her at jessclayton [at] hotmail.com. She called the police, but they said they were too busy at the time to take a report.

  1. The police were “too busy to take a report”? You have to be kidding me. Isn't that their dam* job??

  2. We have had similar experiences with the police. No time to take a report for a theft? That is just utterly wrong.

  3. at first I didn't understand how the police would not “have time” to file a report – which I imagine the robbery victim might need for insurance purposes – Then I realized that they must be terribly busy trying to justify fatally shooting wood carvers and stomping on the heads of innocent citizens who match suspect descriptions… etcetera and so forth

  4. I understand that there may be bigger fish to fry in the Seattle area… afterall, we don't live in Medina or Bellevue where the biggest crime is a speeding 7 over the speed limit. However, I would like to encourage everyone to still continue to report the car breakins and theft to the police, as painful as the process may be. I live a couple blocks from Gasworks and in the past two years of living in my town home, we've had over half a dozen car break-ins. Not sure how effective it would be, but I feel like the only way to increase Police presence and security around here is ensure that all crime (no matter how seemingly petty) are reported. Enough said.

  5. Look, nothing against Jessica, because car prowls suck. But you're going to conflate a simple car prowl with a police shooting to make an anti-police statement? Seriously? That's messed up. Please review the reality of big city living at http://web5.seattle.gov/mnm/po…, then get a grip and realize that a car prowl in the Wallingford QFC parking lot is about as low a priority that there can be. There are 3,000 major crimes a month in Seattle, including 10 assaults, robberies, rapes or murders every single day.
