This story is from our sister site My Green Lake.

Irwin’s Neighborhood Bakery and Cafe is coming to Green Lake.

Irwin’s office manager Cara tells us that the projected opening date is mid-April. Demo has already started, she says, “and we are psyched!”

The bakery and cafe will be located at 301 NE 65th St, across the street from Latona Pub, Mona’s Bistro and Lounge, Cafe Lulu, and Krittika Noodles & Thai Cuisine. The location previously held PetDaddy, a self-serve dog wash and dog boutique. PetDaddy closed after a drunk driver crashed into its storefront.

Brown paper covered with artwork by Aaron Winnenberg currently hangs in the shop’s windows.

This will be Irwin’s third location. They can also be found in Wallingford (2123 N 40th St) and Eastlake (1201 B. Eastlake Ave E).

Owner Linda Fecher promises to share a sample menu with us in a few weeks. (Menus from Irwin’s other two locations can be found here.) “We bake with Rbst growth hormone free dairy, free range eggs, and we don’t add preservatives or any other weirdness to anything baked at Irwin’s,” the bakery’s website says. “This is old-school, at-home baking at it’s most honest.”

The bakery will have wi-fi, Linda says, and will be kid-friendly.
