Sara Beth Russert from Tangletown’s Mighty-O Donuts (2110 N. 55th St.) rose to the top in the “Food Network Challenge: Donut Champions” and took home $10,000. The show aired last night but was filmed last November.

In the two-round episode Russert won over the judges with the French Toast Donut and her showpiece: an elephant fashioned from donuts (and dubbed Mini the Mighty El-O-phant). See the elephant on display at Mighty-O beginning today or in this show preview:

Russert competed against donut makers from The Hole (Denver, CO), Blue Collar Joe’s (Daleville, VA), and Seattle’s own Top Pot Doughnuts.

You’re invited to celebrate the win for Mighty-O at a viewing party at Mighty-O Donuts on Wednesday, April 27,  5:30-7:30 p.m. Guests are invited to watch the show with Mighty-O and enjoy free donuts and coffee.

  1. Such deserved recognition for such great donuts, and Sara Beth was a natural on screen!

  2. Even thought I don't know Sarah Beth, other than talking to her in the store, I was like a proud momma when she won.

  3. Awesome. I was there yesterday morning with my young daughter, we both love Mighty-O. I didn't realize they won, great news.

  4. Doughnuts —gotta have at least a couple a year. I like the Apple Fritters at Top Pot Doughnuts but will have to visit Mighty O the next time we walk around Green Lake (it's up the hill).

  5. This is wonderful news. As a regular customer, I can attest to the excellence of the product! I wish I could come to the viewing party but will be out of the country, creating mayhem.

  6. Sara Beth! You rock!! Thank you so much for putting Mighty-O on the map. I have had all of your donuts (for which my waistline suffers). But thank you so much for making the world's best vegan donut. Keep up the creativity.
