Saturday is April 16. Your taxes should be done, and the urge to do a little spring cleaning may overtake you. The forecast is for no rain, partly cloudy, high of 51 — perfect weather to spend some time prepping the garden for spring plantings, clearing out the garage, and taking an hour or two to beautify your neighborhood.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., check in at the Wallingford Center plaza (corner of N. 45th and Wallingford Ave.) to pick up gear and safety equipment, then chose your area to clean, and bring the garbage back so organizers can take it to the dump. Yes, you get to keep that spiffy safety vest volunteers in these photos are wearing!
Many of last year’s participants were from the Boys and Girls Club; they’ll be on hand again to help beautify the neighborhood. This is a great event for kids, who especially love using the claw garbage picker-upper.
Also, don’t miss presentations by Sustainable Wallingford and Wallingford Community Emergency Preparedness throughout the day.
