Prefer your coffee ice cream cough-free? Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream has taken a step in that direction and now offers paid sick leave to employees.

You may be aware of the push for mandatory paid sick leave in Washington state. Aaron Keating of the Economic Opportunity Institute pointed out that Molly Moon’s Ice Cream announced last week on its Facebook page:

Less chance of a sneeze with your scoop at Molly Moon’s! We’re now offering our employees paid sick leave during those unwanted bouts of the sniffles. Three cheers for a happy, healthy Molly Moon’s team!

Seattle Coalition for a Healthy Workforce plans a town-hall meeting to discuss requiring employers to offer paid sick days tomorrow, May 11, at 5 p.m. at University Christian Church, 4731 15th Ave. N.E.

By the way, today is the third anniversary of Molly Moon’s in Wallingford (the first shop in the expanding frozen confection empire), and they’ll have birthday cake ice cream available.
