Whether you’re celebrating dad or being feted yourself this Sunday, we have some suggestions for Father’s Day activities that’ll keep you close to home:

Wallingford Walks: After a Father’s Day brunch, take a relaxing and informative stroll around the neighborhood and learn about Wallingford’s favorite architectural style: the Craftsman. Al Elliott leads the walk, which begins at Tully’s at N. 45th and Meridian at 1 p.m.

Wallingford contains many fine examples of the Craftsman style of architecture that grew out of a progressive movement started in the late nineteenth century. The goals of this movement included helping people regain connection with craftsmanship and the natural world that were being lost because of industrialization. Siting, exterior design, interior design, choice of materials, garden design all worked toward these and other goals that nurtured the human spirit.

Before the walk you could take in breakfast at the Rusty Pelican Cafe (1924 N. 45th), which will have a Father’s Day special menu (breakfast, drinks and dinner)

Amble down to Archie McPhee’s (1300 N. 45th St.) and see where the Fathers Day Spin ’till You Win wheel lands.

Raise a toast to dad at Selena’s Guadalajara Mexican Family Restaurant, which will have draft beer and margarita specials all day

Not A Number Cards & Gifts offers 20% off all books (including new bestseller “Sh*t My Dad Says”) this weekend to celebrate dads, grads, and the solstice.  The shop at 1905 N. 45th also sells various flashlights and gadgets, and fun, outrageous cards.

Next door, at  Sock Monster (1909 N. 45th St.), grand opening specials continue (like 3 pairs for $20), and even more fun new patterns.  Don’t buy Dad a tie!  Socks with beer, bacon and mustaches instead! 1909 N 45th

For dinner, you could try out Avila‘s (1711 N. 45th St.) weekly family-style Sunday supper ($10 for adults, $6 for kids). See this week’s menu.

Joule (1913 N. 45th St.) offers another family dinner option, with its Sunday summer BBQ series. This week, visit Oaxaca via food from 3 to 9 p.m.

Top off the day at Fainting Goat Gelato (1903 N. 45th St.), where they’ll be scooping up Guinness for Dad, Dark Chocolate, Passion Fruit Sorbetto. On Sunday, when kids bring Dad in, he gets a 10% discount.
