Where to dine on Xmas Eve? Tilth and others open

Christmas Eve is just two days away, and if you don’t want to cook but crave a special feast, or if you have guests in town you want to impress, Tilth may be the spot for dinner.

The acclaimed Wallingford restaurant (and home to our very own Iron Chef winner), is serving a special tasting menu on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Tilth tells us:

It will be the same menu on both holidays, but with three options under each course guests get ample options and can even dine during both and still experience a different dish. Selections include Rabbit Rillette; Sablefish with Sturgeon caviar, potato cake, cardoon; Liberty Farms Duck Breast with sunchoke, lacinato, and kale; and Blood Orange crème brulee. Reservations are required. The four course menu is $85 per person with an optional wine pairing for $50.

As of this morning there were still seats available for Christmas Eve via the OpenTable : Seattle Restaurants reservation site but none for New Year’s Eve. Call 633-0801 if you need more information.

Open Christmas Eve but not Christmas Day

Many other Wallingford restaurants will be open on December 24. This isn’t a comprehensive list; if you know of other eateries that can take guests on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, please let us know.

Early Dismissal for Seattle kids tomorrow

Early Dismissal for Seattle kids tomorrow
  1. It is the holidays. Stay home with your families and cook. Stay home with your friends and cook. Stay home with your cat and cook. Just stay home and enjoy yourselves and make it so that others can do the same. If you want, just knock on some neighbors' doors. Yes, talk to people around you (not just over the fence). You can be a consumer any day, but how many days do you have to just stay at home and enjoy what and who you have in your life. If you don't have either, well then let this day remind you of the things you are missing and why. You can go out any day. Give everyone, including yourself, a break…and stay home. PS: I am agnostic.
